my laptop is not recognizing my camcorder with my firewire cable..i have dazzle so since i have dazzle is there a way to transfer the video using usb?

Sure, the Dazzle is the key. Connect it to your USB port and then use the cable that came with your camera to connect it to a TV and connect it to the Dazzle. Then open Movie Maker and choose the Dazzle as the device you want to capture from. You will then be able to push play on your camera and see the video in the capture window on Movie Maker. Let me know if it works.
